The wine is dark ruby in color with purple highlights.
Taste:
The wine has a rich, mature, spicy, juicy, rich taste with notes of dark fruits and berries, toast and bay leaf, which adds freshness, hints of white pepper, giving a sharpness, gradually increasing to a very complex and structured finish with nuances of charcoal. The taste is medium full-bodied with fine tannins and balanced acidity.
Aroma:
The wine intrigues with an intense aroma with notes of blackberry, blueberry, red plum, raspberry, cedar and minerals. When aerated, shades of violet, blackcurrant, fig, spices and oak appear. A special charm is added to the bouquet by a spectacular mint note, accompanied by a flash of ganache.
Gastronomy:
A classic pairing for this wine is roast lamb. It is also recommended to serve it with poultry, such as chicken or beef with sauce. It goes well with foie gras, grilled vegetables and cheeses.
Interesting Facts
The Chateau Batailley vineyard covers an area of 57 hectares. The soils are mainly composed of silica and gravel. The average age of the vines is 40 years. Classic fermentation at controlled temperature lasts 15-20 days in steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in steel and wooden vats. The wine is aged in oak barrels, 55-60% of which are new, for 16-18 months.
