Interesting Facts
Chateau Phelan Segur is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, used in almost equal proportions. The grapes are grown in the renowned terroir of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The vines are on average 35 years old. The grapes are hand-picked in September and transported to the winery in 35-liter cuvettes. Fermentation lasts 20-30 days. The young wine is aged in oak barrels, half of which are new. The aging period ranges from 14 to 18 months.
