Interesting Facts
Thokozani wine is produced at the Diemersfontein winery and all grapes are harvested inside the WO Wellington area. Wellington may not be the most historically recognized and trendy wine-making region of South Africa, but the victory of the region in 2010 and 2016 in the Terroir Awards Top Wine Area nomination tells us about the great potential and bright future of this wine-making zone. Compared to other regions in South Africa, Wellington is one of the youngest geographic units, having just recently separated from the Paarl region. There are 26 wineries operating in the region today, but Wellington is also known throughout the country and internationally for its industry of South African brandy, craft beer and gin.
