Glendalough Distillery

The Glendalough distillery, which is located in one of the most picturesque places on the globe. The "Valley of Two Lakes" (Glendaulogh) must be visited upon arrival in Ireland. Its second name is "the garden of Ireland" - the local species fully justify. It was here that a group of friends from Dublin and Wicklow decided to revive the traditions of artisan Irish whiskey. Leaving the hustle and bustle of the city, a permanent job, venturing into the mountains and building a distillery helped friends with the story of St. Kevin.

This legendary monk was born into the Irish royal family and from childhood did not need anything. With age, realizing the frailty of such an existence, he decided to leave safety and comfort, went to the mountains and settled in one of the lakes of the Glendaloch Valley for 7 years.

The monk was praying day and night, arms outstretched, standing waist-deep in the icy water of the lake, when suddenly a blackbird landed in his palm. The bird felt safe - the monk had become so close to nature. The thrush laid eggs in the hand of Saint Kevin and he saw this as an opportunity to test his faith and determination. For several days and nights he stood and prayed until the chicks hatched and fledged.

You can find the image of St. Kevin on the bottles of Glendalough whiskey as a symbol of determination, passion and faith in their work. This is how one of the best whiskey in Ireland is created.
