Grupo Traversa S.A
The son of Italian immigrants, Carlos Domingo Traversa spent his youth working in the vineyards and in 1937, together with his wife, María Josefa Salort, he was able to purchase 5 hectares of land in Montevideo. In 1956, he founded the winery with the help of his children, Dante, Luis and Armando. They and his grandchildren proudly continue his business today.
The winery has a storage capacity of 11 million liters and the highest production capacity in Uruguay; it uses advanced technology and large stainless steel tanks for fermentation at a controlled temperature. The laboratory is also equipped with the most modern equipment, which allows for strict control of the wine at all stages of the winemaking process. The cellar, where the wines are aged in optimal conditions, contains about 300 barrels of French and American oak.
