Bonnaire

The Champagne House Bonnaire was founded in 1932 in one of the most beautiful places in Champagne, the village of Cramant, the heart of the Côte des Blancs. For more than 80 years, family traditions have been passed on from generation to generation. The founder of the company was Fernand Bouquemont, the great-grandfather of the current leaders of the Bonnaire house, which began its activities in the spring of 1931. His son-in-law André Bonnaire, and then his son Jean-Louis, worked since the 1960s to create the complete style of Champagne house, which is today recognized and admired throughout the world.

Today, the children of Jean Louis and Marie Therese - Jean Etienne and Jean Emmanuel - continue to preserve family traditions. The family owns 25 hectares with Grand and Premier Cru status. For a long time, the brothers have been moving towards sustainable farming and for 10 years they have been working to obtain an organic certificate, because it is very difficult to convert 25 hectares entirely to organics. They reconstructed the winery, replaced large fermentation tanks with small ones and began to carry out separate vinification, emphasizing the characteristics of each individual terroir.

With the release of new wines, the Bonnaire Brothers are moving towards a less dosage and more terroir-based champagne, with an emphasis on Chardonnay in the ultra-mineral and pure expression of this great variety.
