Alheit Vineyards

Alheit Vineyards is a family business founded in 2010 by husband and wife Chris and Suzaan Alheit. They met at Stellenbosch University, fell in love, travelled the world together, got married, and eventually settled on the Hemelrand farm near Hermanus to start their project. Hemelrand is one of the most picturesque places in the Cape. Hemel & Aarde Ridge, located high on the Hemel and Aarde Ridge, can be windy and cold, but on sunny days it is incredibly beautiful. The winemaking here is as gentle as possible - without artificial yeast, chemicals, using only old barrels and a complete lack of fining. The pressing is gentle, and the must is practically not settled, but fermented together with the lees in cement vats, clay amphorae and old oak.
