Heaven Hill Distilleries

The history of the Heaven Hill Distilleries company began after the repeal of Prohibition in 1934. The Shapiro brothers founded the first distillery and decided to call it William Heavenhill - in honor of the soldier who became famous during the Indian War, but made a mistake during registration and registered the plant as "Heaven Hill". They decided not to correct the mistake. On November 7, 1996, a fire broke out in the town of Bardstown, the distillery building burned to the ground. Along with it, 29 million liters of whiskey were destroyed, which was 2% of the total US reserves. Eyewitnesses of those events tell how aged bourbon flowed around the area in the form of burning rivers. The new home for Heaven Hill became the Bernheim distillery, purchased from Diageo. During the transfer of production to a new location, the company bought whiskey from other producers, selling it under its own brands, and sometimes even renting distilleries for a while to produce bourbon according to its own recipe.

For many generations, the Shapiro family has steadily built the business through the development of an internal brand, expansion of the product line, advertising and strategically important acquisitions. Thanks to excellent start-up capital, the management skills of the family and the famous Earl Beam invited as an expert, Heaven Hill is one of the largest holdings in America. Currently, the company ranks 2nd in whiskey production in its country and produces approximately 200 different brands.
