Wildmakers
Luca Hodgkinson’s journey into winemaking began in Spain’s famed Priorat region. He completed his oenology degree at ENSAT in Toulouse and a master’s degree in environmental science and viticulture at the University of Bordeaux. His career took him across Europe – France, Italy and Spain – where he gained valuable winemaking experience. Luca then joined François Lurton’s Chilean estate as a technical manager, where he successfully transitioned both the Chilean and Argentinian projects to organic and biodynamic methods.
He then co-founded Wildmakers in Chile with oenologist JM Sotomayor, initially consulting on high-quality, low-intervention wines before launching his own production in 2014.
Luca has also revived his family’s Priorat project, Hodgkinson-Mas del Habanero. With over 20 years of experience in winemaking, he now focuses on creating Buena Vida wines - a certified organic series from Chile and Argentina - while maintaining his commitment to low-invasive and sustainable viticulture.
