Domaine Les enfants Sauvages

Domaine Les Enfants Sauvages ("wild children") is Nicholas and Carolin Bantlin and their children - Juri and Falk. Carolin studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and after graduating joined her husband's family's business, which was engaged in the production of leather goods. In the mid-90s, after the birth of their first son Falk, they began looking for a treasured "country" house in the south of France, with the idea of moving part of the production there. During one of their holidays, they met a Scottish woman, Joanna, who had lived in the Fitou region for 25 years. She helped the family find a suitable house. For 3 years, the Bantlin family came there for the summer and only in 1998, almost immediately after the birth of their second son, they were shown a plot of vineyards and an old house, in an abandoned steppe in the direction of the village of Opoul. It was an isolated piece of land of 7.5 hectares, in relatively good condition, and at the end of 1999 the decision was made to purchase the plot.

Today their wines reflect the harmony of the existence of people and nature. The vineyards of 12 hectares are located 5 km from the Mediterranean Sea at an altitude of 150 m above sea level. All of them are surrounded by wild vegetation, the so-called "garrigue", which protects us from unwanted influences, chemicals and diseases, as well as almond, fig and olive trees.
