SaintJames
The history of the famous Saint James brand began in Saint-Pierre-de-Martinique in 1765 thanks to the monastery's mentor, Edmond Lefebvre, who built a sugar factory near Saint-Jacques, where the remains of molasses were distilled. To improve the quality, they began to experiment with the recipe and distillation stills were brought from France for better distillation. As a result, a high-quality drink appeared, which was later exported to the British colonies. This is how rum was born, which was named after the saint - Saint James. At the end of the 19th century, rum found a new life thanks to Paulin Lambert, a merchant from Marseille, who bought several distilleries in Martinique. Having modernized the plant, he made changes to the technology and design. Rum began to be bottled in the world's first square bottle, which was more convenient and safe for transportation on ships.
