Chateau du Tertre
Chateau du Tertre is located in the southwestern part of the Margaux appellation, on a large gravel plateau, the altitude of which is 20 meters. Although officially the estate was founded in the 18th century, it has a much older history and once belonged to the d'Arsac family - one of the oldest families of the Medoc, whose name is mentioned in documents from 1143. Later, this Chateau belonged to the influential Marquis de Ségur, who owned the chateaus Lafite, Latour and Calon-Ségur. The revival of the estate can be considered 1997, when the estate was bought by the Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma - the owner of the neighboring Chateau Giscours. Eric reconstructed both the estate itself and the winery. The joint efforts of the new owner and the oenologists of the estate allowed to significantly improve the quality of the estate's wines, giving them greater complexity and sophistication.
