Klumpp
The Weingut Klumpp estate is located in the north of the Baden region, specifically in its Kraichgau subregion, where loess soils are common and the vineyards are on gentle slopes away from the Rhine. The estate was founded as a real "garage" winery on 1.2 hectares of vineyards in 1983 by Marietta and Ulrich Klumpp, who initially worked in areas far from viticulture. In 1990, they built a large modern building, and in 1996 they received an organic certificate. Now the second generation is at the helm - brothers Markus and Andreas Klumpp.
The Klumpp estate plots are located on four different vineyards with a variety of soil compositions - loess, limestone, multi-colored marl, sand, keuper (red sandy clay with layers of gypsum and limestone). The owners have devoted a lot of time to studying the region's terroir and the optimal conditions for growing grapes. In 2014, the Eichelmann Wine Guide awarded the winery the title of "Breakthrough of the Year".
