Bodegas Valdemar is a family business with a history dating back to 1889. The present enterprise was founded in 1982 by Jesús Martínez Buhanda, its current owner. Since then, the bodega has been famous for its modern equipment and innovative approach to winemaking. The wine is made from own grapes.
Bodega has always been a pioneer in the application of technical innovations, which made it possible to produce wonderful wines. She was one of the first in Europe to use temperature control in tanks and the first in Rioja to make rosé wine using the “bloodletting” method. Their white wine, fermented in barrels, was also the first in the region. The combination of quality grapes from our own land and modern vinification methods make Valdemar wines a kind of benchmark for judging Riojan wines from other producers.
