Newton Johnson
The Newton Johnson family settled in the Hemel en Aarde Valley in 1995 and began to produce unique wines, especially focusing on Pinot Noir.
The vineyards are managed by brothers Bevan (manager) and Gordon (winemaker), who are members of the prestigious Cape Town Winemakers' Guild. Gordon was joined by his wife, Nadia, who comes from a sixth-generation wine-growing family and is a graduate of the Faculty of Oenology at Stellenbosch University.
The vineyards of Newton Johnson Vineyards have an exceptional variety of soil, from granite to well-defined alluvial terraces, completely strewn with stones ranging in size from pebbles to huge boulders.
Varieties in the vineyards of the economy are mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as Syrah, Albariño, Mourvedre and Grenache. Newton Johnson was a pioneer in the planting of Albarino, which was brought by his family to South America.
