Bonnet-Ponson

The history of Domaine Bonnet-Ponson began in 1862 with Gregory Bonnet, one of the first recoltans of the village of Chamery (who produced wine from his own vineyards). His son inherited the domain and expanded the ownership of the Chamery vineyards. In 1902, he installed his first 5,500-kilogram press, made entirely of wood and powered only by human power.

Grandson Gregory was part of the family business from the age of 14 and was responsible for plowing the family vines with two horses. In 1956, André Bonnet met Monique Ponson. Monique was a member of a family of hereditary winemakers Vrigny, another village of Montaigne de Reims. The fruit of such a successful union was Domaine Bonnet-Poncon with the ownership of vineyards already in three Champagne communes.

Generation after generation, the descendants of Gregory Bonnet perfected the technology of Champagne production in the domain, while buying more and more new vineyards. In 2013, Cyril Bonnet, a hereditary winemaker in the sixth generation, began to manage the domain. He changed the conservative style of production to the almost complete rejection of dosage and filtration.

The family owns 10.5 hectares of vineyards, divided into 55 separate vineyards in the northern part of Montaigne de Reims. Vineyards are located in 4 communes. Premier cru of the commune - Chamery, Coulom-la-Montagne and Vrigny, as well as Grand cru - Verzenay.
