Couly-Dutheil
The Couly Dutheil domain is currently managed by Arnaud Couly Dutheil, the fourth generation. In 2005, he wanted to move towards wines with more fruit and ripeness, while maintaining freshness: less extraction, no oak, very low filtration. The Couly Dutheil cuvées allow you to “walk” through the different terroirs of the Chinon appellation. The estate manages 94 hectares in Chinon and 7 hectares in Saumur and Saumur Champigny.
In contrast to the classic characteristics of Cabernet Franc, such as bright vegetal tones in the aroma and taste, as well as lightness and drinkability, the Couly Dutheil wines, thanks to the practice of later harvesting, are distinguished by richness and depth. At the same time, local wines still have bright fruitiness, freshness and excellent balance.
