Chateau La Gaffeliere
Château la Gaffelière has a long history, the first mentions of it say that the Château was built on the ruins of a Gallo-Roman villa. In the 17th century, the owner of the castle was Count Male-Roquefort, and towards the end of the 19th century, the Château was divided into two parts: Château Canon-la-Gaffelière and Château Gaffelière Naude (which was renamed Château la Gaffelière in 1963). Three centuries later, the Château still belongs to the Male-Roquefort family. Its vineyard area is 22 hectares, of which 66% is planted with Merlot, and the rest is divided equally between Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The exposure of the vineyards is southern, the average age of the vines is 35 years. The estate produces two wines: the first wine, Château la Gaffelière, a Premier Grand Cru, and the second wine, Clos la Gaffelière.
