Chateau L'Eglise-Clinet

The history of Château L'Église-Clinet began in 1882. The vineyards occupy just 4.5 hectares around the Church of Saint-Jean, the patron saint of Pomerol. The clay-gravel soil of the plots, thanks to its natural slope, has a well-developed centuries-old drainage network. Two grape varieties are grown in the vineyards: Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). The average age of the vines is 40 years, and the planting density is 6,500 plants per hectare. To maintain high quality, the vines are cleared of excess leaves, the yield is deliberately underestimated, all work in the vineyard is done by hand, and only organic fertilizers are used for fertilizing. Harvest is usually in late August - early September. The grapes are carefully de-stemmed and crushed. Fermentation lasts from 15 to 21 days. In October, the wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, most of which are new.
