Torraccia del Piantavigna

Torraccia del Piantavigna is a family company that owns 38 hectares of vineyards located in Gemma and Gattinara, in the foothills of Monte Rosa. The production of his own wines was started in the 50s by Pierino Piantavigna, who is the maternal grandfather of the current generation of the Francoli family. It was Pierino who planted the first Nebbiolo vines in the hills above Gemme, near the medieval castle of Cavenago, one of the ruined towers of which is called “Torraccia”. The Torraccia del Piantavigna company itself was founded in 1997 by Alessandro Francoli,
engaged in the production of strong drinks at that time.

Today, responsibility for the wine business is shared by two respected families from Gemme: the Francoli are famous for their premium grappa, and the Ponti are considered leaders in the Italian market for vinegar and canned vegetables. The family traditions established by Pierino's grandfather inspire the current generation of winemakers. They not only strive to create exceptional wines, they live in harmony with others, value local traditions and respect the environment. This is confirmed by dozens of prizes and medals received for the quality of wines, as well as the “Eco-Friendly” environmental award awarded by the Italian Tourist Club.
