Interesting Facts
Albarossa is a local hybrid of Barbera and Chatou (also called Nebbiolo di Dronero). Historically, the variety appeared due to a mistake, since its creator, Professor Dalmasso, wanted to combine two great Piedmontese varieties, but chose the wrong Nebbiolo. The variety has a very peculiar character. In blends, it usually emphasizes the fruitiness of other varieties and enhances acidity, tannin structure and color, showing strength in any of these aspects. The wine is aged for 10 months in new French barriques (225 liters).
