Interesting Facts

Gevrey-Chambertin is distinguished by the impressive diversity of its terroirs. No white wine is produced here; only Pinot Noir grapes are grown. The *Petite Chapelle* *climat* (covering a total area of less than 10 acres) stands out for its elegance and refinement—qualities rivaled only by its older and more prestigious Grand Cru neighbor, Chapelle-Chambertin. Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled wooden vats over a period of 18 to 21 days. The wine is aged in oak barrels (35–40% new) for 16 to 17 months.
