Albert Bichot

Albert Bichot is the owner of wineries in different parts of Burgundy, with a total area of more than 100 hectares, and one of the main merchants of the region. It is necessary to talk about wines under the Albert Bichot brand in relation to each of them separately, since they are all special and, at the same time, classic examples of various appellations and cru.

In total, Burgundy has 23 regional AOCs, 44 "village" and 33 Grand Crus. Almost all of them are represented in the portfolio of Albert Bichot. The average age of the vines in the company's vineyards is 30 years, but there are also 60-year-old vines, as, for example, in the Clos des Ursulines vineyard in Pommard. Every year, 2-3% of the vineyards are renewed, thus laying the health and strength of the vine by the time it reaches its optimal fruiting age. Pinot Noir and Vieux Vinh Chardonnay (old vines) show the result of this far-sighted strategy. The house owns 4 estates in the fundamentally significant regions of Burgundy: Château Lone-Depaky in Chablis, Domaine du Clos-Frantin in Nuits Saint-Georges, Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard and Domaine Adélie in Mercury. Each estate has equipment for the production and aging of wine.

Under the direction of the chief winemaker of the house, Alain Servo, there is a team of vineyard managers and cellar masters who skillfully work with local wines. The main winery of the company - Colbert - is located in the center of the capital of Burgundy winemaking - the city of Beaune. It produces vinification and aging of wines of regional appellations and some of the village ones. The Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed for about 3 hours, followed by natural fermentation, three weeks in tanks and a month and a half in barrels, with temperature control. All wines undergo malolactic fermentation. Pinot Noir berries are not crushed, but completely separated from the cuttings and placed in stainless steel tanks for 4-6 days for cold maceration. Further fermentation, triggered by natural yeast, lasts about three weeks at a controlled temperature, which is required for the full extraction of all aromatic substances from the grapes.

Albert Bichot wines have won more than one convincing victory at the most prestigious international competitions, such as the International Wine Challenge or the Decanter World Wine Awards. The work of the chief winemaker Alain Servo was awarded the title of "Best Winemaker of the Year". At the Burgundy auction "Hospice de Beaune" wine lots from Bichot are sold with indispensable success. "Albert Bichot" is one of the most respected and respected Burgundian houses with a well-deserved reputation. Their wines are served "on the best tables" in France and in more than 100 countries around the world.
