Interesting Facts
This Grand Cru vineyard is situated on the border of the Morey-Saint-Denis commune, between the Monts Luisants plot and the Chambertin Grand Cru. Here, poor limestone-clay soils overlie a bed of marl and fossil-rich Bajocian limestone. A thin layer of siliceous rock, washed down from the Combe de Grissard, is visible on the surface. The name itself—derived from the French *tricière*, meaning "poor land"—reflects the meager nature of the local soil. Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled wooden vats over a period of 18–21 days. The wine is aged in oak barrels (40–50% new) for 16–18 months.
