Dreissigacker

The winery now known as Dreissigacker was founded in 1728 by Jakob Sauer, who decided to grow grapes in addition to a wide range of grains. In the early 20th century, Adolf Sauer III decided to export his wines to England, and vineyards became a major focus. In 1952, Christa Sauer’s husband, Philipp Dreissigacker, took over the business.

Forty years later, Frieder and Ute Dreissigacker took over the winery, maintaining a traditional approach to wine production. But when their son Jochen came into the business in 2001, he set his sights on the radical changes he knew were needed. He converted the 40-hectare estate to organic viticulture (certified since 2007).

In 2018, the Dreissihackers completed the construction of a new winery in the middle of the Bechtheim vineyards, something that had never been done before in Rheinhessen.
