La Durbane

La Durban is the name of a farm in Caderousse. It used to be a tugboat inn where boatmen sailing from Beaucaire to Lyon along the Rhone stopped to pick up fresh horses. Martine and Jean-Louis Jornal, passionate about wine and nature, bought a small estate north of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in 1999. The property covered 3.5 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 3 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône. Over time, what started as a “hobby” became a full-time job, which Martine and Jean-Louis pursue with patience, diligence and passion. The vineyard cultivated by the Jornal family now extends over 14.5 hectares.
