Galpin Peak, Bouchard Finlayson, Walker Bay
Interesting Facts
During their work on the Hamilton Russell farm, Peter Finlayson’s successful experiments with Pinot Noir, placed the Hamel en Aarde Valley on the world's wine map as one of the best places in South Africa to grow this grape variety. The relative coolness of the climate and complex soils made of clay, gravel and shale rocks provide growing potential for reference Pinot Noir samples. Wine Gelpin Peak takes its name from one of the two most magnificent mountains of the region, which is located on its northern border. After fermentation is completed for a period of 14 days, the wine is pressed with peel and placed in barrels of which 30-35% are young, and the remainder is in barriques of the second and third priority. The wine remains in barriques for aging for an average of 10 months.
