Altesino
Nestled in the north-eastern hills of Montalcino, the majestic 15th-century Palazzo Altesi dominates the estate. Built by the Tuscan Tricerchi family, whose marble coat of arms still adorns the ancient oak entrance door, Altesino has been owned by the Gnudi Angelini family since 2002, with the technical and production departments built thanks to the collaboration with Paolo Caciorgna.
The company is the developer of numerous important structural innovations that have been used for forty years by the Brunello di Montalcino wineries. A pioneer in the pursuit of excellence, with the introduction of the “Cru” concept (Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli) in 1975, Altesino was the first winery to use barriques in 1979.
In 1977, Altesino created and produced the first Grappa di Fattoria thanks to the help of master distiller Gioacchino Nannoni. Over the last forty years, a close relationship has developed with a land full of history, with its sensual beauty that can be felt physically and its subtle charm that penetrates the body and soul. It is this philosophy that inspires Altesino to produce its wines.
