Vinicola Benanti
The history of the Benanti wine dynasty began at the end of the 19th century, when Giuseppe Benanti, the great-grandfather of the current owner (also Giuseppe), planted his vineyards near the village of Viagrande, located on the slopes of the volcano Etna. The family had been making wine for many years, but the company achieved its greatest successes after it passed into the ownership of Dr. Giuseppe Benanti in 1988, who began his activities with a thorough study of the composition of the soil and the characteristics of the native grape varieties. The farm began to use the latest methods of vinification of traditional grape varieties, and as a result, after a few years, several brands of wine were presented to the consumer, each with its own style and individuality, and also reflecting the unique features of the terroir. These products were immediately appreciated by connoisseurs and won recognition in Italy.
The company adheres to the principles of ecological winemaking and pays special attention to the quality of work in the vineyards. Today, Benanti wines can be called the standard for winemakers in the region, and the magazine "Gambero Rosso" recognized the winery as the best in Italy. The estate's excellent wines, which have a special sophistication and elegance, are regularly noted with high marks by domestic and international critics, and such wines as the white "Pietramarina" and the red "Serra della Contessa" and "Rovittello" have been repeatedly ranked by experts among the best wines in Italy.
