Interesting Facts
Siepi is a cult wine. Although the first Siepi was released in 1992, the myth about this wine has existed for almost 6 centuries. The family archives contain documents according to which the granddaughter of Ser Lapo Mazzei - Madonna Smerlada Mazzei - married Piero di Agnolo da Fonterutoli in 1435, and as her dowry was listed a plot of land Siepi, adjacent to the house, with vineyards, olives and oaks. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 250-330 meters above sea level. Fermentation takes place at a temperature of 26-28 degrees. Maceration is separate: 14 days for Merlot and 18 days for Sangiovese. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.
