Barolo DOCG Brunate, Damilano
Interesting Facts
The vineyard is located in the town of La Morra and covers a total area of 25 hectares with southern exposure. Brunate is a long strip of land in the shape of an amphitheater, descending steeply from 405 to 230 meters. The climate is characterized by sharp changes in temperature. During the daytime, the vineyard receives the optimal amount of light, as it faces south. At night, however, the temperature drops sharply. Someone tried to trace the etymology of the name through this characteristic, because once upon a time the harvest was so late that the grapes were covered with a layer of frost, hence the name “Brinate” (covered with frost), which was later changed to “Brunate”. Fermentation of the wine lasts 20 days under strict temperature control. Aging takes place in large oak barrels for 2 years, and then in bottle for another 14 months.
